Why You Should Join Macon’s Big Bike Ride – A Message from BWM Director

Macon’s Big Bike Ride is coming up on November 1st, and I want to personally invite you to join us for this meaningful and exciting event! It’s not just another ride—it’s a movement for safer, more connected streets in Macon.

Here’s why I’m excited and think you should be part of it:

1. We need better streets, and your voice matters.
Every rider we have helps send a message to our city leaders that we need safer, more accessible streets for EVERYONE. By showing up, you’re helping us advocate for protected bike lanes and better infrastructure, making Macon a happier, healthier city. Check out our Manifesto to see what we’re specifically asking for!

2. It's fun and family-friendly.
This event is for all ages and skill levels, whether you're a seasoned bicyclist or dusting off your bike for the first time in a while. The ride will be at a relaxed pace with a friendly atmosphere, so bring the family and everyone you know along for a fun experience!

3. See what’s happening and what’s next for Macon’s streets.
You’ll get a firsthand look at areas where big improvements are planned, like Linear Park and the Ocmulgee Heritage Trail. At our stops, you’ll hear about future projects that will make Macon even more bike-friendly and how you can get involved.

4. Be part of a growing community.
There’s something so powerful about riding with hundreds of people who care about the same issues you do. You’ll meet new people, learn about local biking and walking initiatives, and connect with others who are passionate about making Macon a better place for everyone.

Whether you're a dedicated cyclist or a newbie who wants to support a safer Macon, I hope you’ll join us. I can’t wait to ride with you on November 1st!
