Trails Day 2024 - Behind the Scenes of the Trail Tour

Join us for a behind-the-scenes bike tour along Macon's Ocmulgee Heritage Trail.

Bring your own bicycle and pedal through the newest sections with trail leaders Bill Causey, retired Macon-Bibb County Engineer, and Erin Keller from NewTown Macon. Bill will share behind-the-scenes insights into building the trail, discussing its challenges and successes. Erin will discuss the fundraising efforts that made the trail's expansion possible.

This leisurely ride will be at an easy pace, suitable for all skill levels. Learn about the trail's future plans through Vision Plan 2.0 maps during the ride and engage in a Q&A session to understand more about the trail's development and operations. We'll also address challenges, including how the massive I-16 and I-75 construction projects have affected some sections with temporary closures and alterations.
