FOUR WAYS TO CELEBRATE NATIONAL WALKING DAY
Wednesday, April 3rd is National Walking Day. Here’s how we’re celebrating.
Walk-About-Wednesday
Join us for Walk-About-Wednesday to explore the streets of Macon in a healthy way! This one-hour fun, medium pace fitness walk meets on the 1st Wednesday of each month (April to September 2019) at 5:45 PM. Meet at the Bike Walk Macon office at 338 Poplar Street. Participants should be able to walk 3 miles non-stop. Wear appropriate fitness gear and bring water. We hope to see you there! Invite your friends on Facebook.
Community Route Audit for Safe Routes to Parks Macon
On Saturday, April 6th, get involved and share your thoughts about the ways we get to our parks in a one-day community route audit. From 9am to 12pm, groups of volunteers will walk and bike various routes linking neighborhoods and parks. Along the way, volunteers will make notes and answer questions about the routes. Are the sidewalks level? Is the route clearly visible? You’ll be the eyes of the community as we work to make it safer for people of all ages and abilities to access parks – all while you get some movement and fun in your day. Grab your bike or your walking shoes and join us! The first fifty volunteers will receive a Safe Routes to Parks Macon bag and sticker. Find details here.
Walk With A Doc
Join Dr. Strothers and the Family Health Center for this free, fun, walking program. What better way to start your weekend than making strides toward a healthier lifestyle? At Walk With A Doc, you will learn about important health topics; have your questions answered by local physicians; build new friendships; and enjoy an informal, relaxed, and fun walk at your own pace. This event will take place at 10:30am on the first Saturday of every month at Central City Park. RSVP online!
