STay Tuned for 2026 announcement!

Macon’s Big Bike Ride is Bike Walk Macon’s signature annual event and fundraiser, shining a spotlight on the need for safer, friendlier, and healthier streets in Macon-Bibb County. This 8-10 mile ride winds through Downtown Macon, the Ocmulgee Heritage Trail, and surrounding neighborhoods, bringing together hundreds of riders to advocate for better infrastructure, promote active transportation, and strengthen our growing bicycle community—all while supporting the mission of Bike Walk Macon.

As the largest group ride in the city, this event is more than a bike ride - it’s a movement. Participants champion healthier living, sustainable mobility, and a more connected Macon. Join us and make a powerful statement for a safer, more bike-friendly future!

Macon’s Big Bike Ride GOALS

Why are we riding? Here’s what this event is all about:

Demonstrate the Need for Safer Streets
Hundreds of riders will come together to show the demand for safer, more connected streets, bike lanes, trails, and parking. We’ll engage with local officials and advocate for policies and funding that prioritize multi-modal transportation and protect everyone who walks, bikes, or rolls through our city.

Foster a Thriving Bicycling Community
The ride is for everyone - families, experienced riders, and newcomers alike. It’s a chance to share a love of biking, learn from one another, and connect with Macon’s bike community. Safety resources, maintenance tips, and information about future events and groups will be available.

Support Bike Walk Macon
Funds raised help us organize community events, educational programs, and infrastructure projects, while supporting our day-to-day advocacy for safer streets and better transportation options.

The Macon Mobility Manifesto

By joining the ride in 2025, riders stand with Bike Walk Macon to support safer, more connected, and more equitable streets. Over the next 10 years, we’re committed to bold change in how our streets are designed and how transportation systems serve every resident.

We’re advocating for:

  • Safe streets for all ages and abilities - Supporting Vision Zero, Complete Streets, and traffic calming that puts people first.

  • Low-stress transportation choices - Expanded trails, connected sidewalks, and seamless access to transit.

  • Equitable access - Affordable, inclusive transportation and community-led planning.

  • Everyday biking and walking - Creating a culture where active transportation is safe and normal.

  • Bold leadership and accountability - Innovative, people-centered solutions like micromobility, riverfront access, and clean transportation options
